25 of February 2016. 15:20,London. Cold but dry outside. While I sit on the bed and feed my little girl, I got this vision: the new generations will come out with a skin entirely green. As plain as day, the ingestion of matcha and spirulina will generate genetic modifications in the dna of our species. New food technologies will reset the dinner table to the healthy meadows of our ancestors, with London going back to an endless chatter of rain, nettle and cattle-yards. Substituting refined sugar with goji berries, kids voluntarily waking up before dawn with the pedagogic intent to stab the bark of maple trees and suck the syrup away, losing fat because the cakes would be all paleo and full of proteins and the skin of the people would be shining due to the copious amount of coconut oil and avocado consumed; head as a halo and green complexion, the man of the future.
Am I wrong, Sugar Mama? Why don't people love themselves more? Why doesn't the kerb seem to be wide enough to contain the shadow of our bellies? Why is it all palm oil and soya in supermarket shelves ? I got a business vision: we want to bring a six-pack in every London household by 2020. Meantime our new slogan is:'Life is great if you don't weaken'. A favourite of mine, John Dos Passos, used this phrase in 'The Big Money' , part of 'The U.S.A. Trilogy'. We are experimenting with healthy alternatives to refined sugar from lucuma to maple syrup. A new futuristic banana bread without any sugar replacement, apart from ripe fruit, is already available. Our vocabulary must be reinvented and the commercial idea of a cake as a sugary treat would be forsaken. The ancient association of the word 'treat' with something sweet is perilous. New addictions and alchemical concoctions able to defeat our sugar-fiend will be conceived, by and by, as plum & almond, coffee & cashew or avocado & rosewater. I have recently found in me a nutty boy since being playful with paleo recipes. I have learned to love cashews deeply. Let's hurry to live and hasten to feel! Bye for now. Your Sugar Man
